Do you want to know how to remove a sticker, cleanly and ultimately, from practically any hard surface?
Do you know what drives me bonkers? When you buy a picture frame, and the price sticker is so massive on adhesive that it’s impossible to remove. I’m looking at you, TJ Maxx – those stickers sometimes are so hard to remove, that they even leave a trace of film behind! Then, of course, there are the times that your sweet children stick stickers in places where no sticker should ever be stuck (try saying that ten times fast!).
I finally have the answer to my sticker woes, and it’s something I was introduced to as a teen working retail! Goo Gone! Have you heard of it? We used to use it when I worked in Northern Reflections circa 1999. Whenever there was a mess, or someone stuck gum in one of the changing rooms, my boss would go to the back room and haul out Goo-Gone’s trusty bottle! Like a boss.
And now that Goo Gone comes in a convenient spray bottle, you can clean up like a boss too! Not sure what it is?
You can find on Amazon for cheap price! I grabbed a bottle when I was there with my littlest two last week. See how excited they are?
I also picked up these adorable dinosaur cups (I’m trying to get my boys, ages 5 and 2 to use big boy cups). Of course, they were so excited to use them that I gave them a quick rinse and poured milk in them for dinner that night, then threw them in the dishwasher.
The next day I realized that these stickers were pretty much burned right onto the plastic! Oops! Perfect job for Goo Gone, though. A quick spray, a quick wipe, and the gunk wiped right off!
I couldn’t believe it. I think I’ll start wandering around my house looking for stickers and gunk to remove. I had to head over to the Goo Gone website to see what else this stuff could do. They have some cute videos, how-to guides, and info to clean up any mess around the house. It removes stickers, candle wax, permanent marker, crayon, glue, and gum! So basically, every mother of a toddler or preschooler needs to have a bottle of Goo Gone tucked away in her arsenal!
I’ll be removing the labels from my kitchenware and photo frames properly now instead of scraping at it with my fingernail with poor results.
Goo Gone is also an excellent product for keeping craft-time under control. Many mamas don’t like to bother with craft-time at home because the mess can be such a headache. I feel you, mama! Here are some tips for keeping the crafting area neat:
- DO use a drop sheet or newspaper to protect surfaces
- DO head outside for arts and crafts when possible
- DO get crafty just before bath time – or in the bath!
- DO keep a bottle of Goo Gone to clean up sticky, gooey messes easily.
- DO focus on the experience, not the result.
- DO change into craft-time clothes before crafting.
